Richmond is reportedly considering signing ex-Sydney ruckman Sam Naismith following the conclusion of this year's trade period.

The Tigers are thought to be weighing the prospect of penning the forgotten ruckman as a delisted free agent after the departure of Ivan Soldo to Port Adelaide during the exchange window.

Naismith has been plying his trade with Port Melbourne in the VFL, having previously been listed with the Swans at the same time as now-Richmond co-skipper Toby Nankervis.

Behind Nankervis, Richmond has young ruck-forward Samson Ryan and 208-centimetre ruck prospect Oliver Hayes-Brown, whom the club signed earlier this off-season as a Category B rookie.

According to AFL Media journalist Cal Twomey on Monday afternoon, Richmond is considering putting a contract in front of Naismith.

The 31-year-old played 30 games for the Swans during an injury-marred stint in the Harbour City, having undergone three knee reconstructions throughout his professional career to date.

However, in an attempt to stage an AFL resurrection, Naismith averaged 14 disposals and close to 40 hitouts per game for the Borough this season.

After draft selection trading resumed on Monday morning, the delisted free agency signing period officially commences next Wednesday, November 1 at 9:00 AM (AEDT).
