Richmond have landed on untried tall forward Liam Fawcett as their replacement for suspended veteran Tom Lynch, with the South Australian to debut against Port Adelaide in his home state on Saturday.

The Tigers, who blooded three debutants in last week's win over Carlton, will call on Fawcett for Round 2 as they look to fill the void of Lynch, who will serve a one-game suspension for rough conduct.

The second-year Tiger was drafted out of Central District to Punt Road as the 43rd overall pick in his class, joining fellow statesman Kane McAuliffe as the Tigers' only National Draft additions for 2023.

Injury and illness plagued Fawcett's first year in the yellow and black, limiting the 197cm forward to just a trio of VFL appearances late into last year.

Off the back of a strong pre-season, which saw Fawcett kick three goals in last week's VFL practice match against the Blues, the teenager has earned himself an AFL debut under Adem Yze.

The selection call follows Richmond's trio of fresh faces from Round 1, with Sam Lalor, Luke Trainor and Harry Armstrong making their maiden appearances last week.

Richmond will weigh up another potential change as key defender Jacob Blight nurses an adductor injury from the win over Carlton, potentially opening the door for Jacob Koschitzke to return to Yze's side.

The Tigers will name their Round 2 lineup at 6:20pm (AEDT) on Thursday.
