Rival clubs will come calling for out of favour Geelong midfielder Charlie Constable if he is unable to break into the Cats lineup, according to former premiership hero Tom Lonergan.
Constable has averaged 33 disposals in the VFL in the past five weeks and collected 42 disposals against Essendon on Friday night.
However, the 22-year-old has only played three games in the seniors this year despite the likes of Patrick Dangerfield and Mitch Duncan missing large chunks of the season through injury.
Lonergan believes the likes of North Melbourne and Gold Coast will come calling if Constable is unable to get more game time at the Cats.
“I personally thought he might have left last year (to) a team like a North Melbourne or even a Gold Coast – someone that needs a real inside mid. (An) Accumulator of the ball is exactly what Charlie Constable is,” Lonergan said and reported by Fox Sports' Ben Cotton.
“He’s a good decision-maker, apparently he’s got very good leadership skills off the field as well, (he’s) very well-liked amongst the playing group.
“He needs to play AFL, he’s clearly shown he can play really well at this level. (He) needs to get his opportunity."
Constable was selected with pick 36 in the 2017 National Draft has played 12 AFL games since making his debut in 2019.
