Rivals clubs are reportedly monitoring Carlton small forward Matt Owies, who is yet to cement his future at Princes Park beyond this year.
Owies is currently enjoying arguably his best campaign in navy blue, having already booted 16 goals from his 11 appearances so far this season.
The lively attacker has been a consistent presence in Michael Voss' front third as fellow small forwards Jesse Motlop, Corey Durdin, Jack Martin, David Cuningham, Lachie Fogarty and Orazio Fantasia have been limited due to fitness issues.
Having joined Carlton in 2018 as a category B rookie after spending years overseas pursuing a career in basketball, Owies has proven to be a bargain recruit for the Victorian powerhouse, playing 60 games at AFL level for a return of 72 goals since his debut in 2020.
With his current contract nearing an end, coupled with Carlton's long list of small forward options, rivals are said to have Owies on their radar given his uncertain future, according to AFL.com.au.
Teams in the market to add to their forward line reportedly see Owies as a gettable target, with the Blues already having a packed pecking order of small forwards to select from.
The Blues have also uncovered defender Zac Williams as a potential attacker going forward, with the ex-Giant kicking a career-high four goals last weekend in the win over Gold Coast after being swung into the forward 50.
Owies is among an extended list of Blues players still without contracts for 2025, with senior stalwarts in Martin, Fogarty, Caleb Marchbank, Elijah Hollands and Cuningham, among others, also yet to cement their futures.
Carlton have managed to secure the services of Jordan Boyd, Matt Cottrell and Corey Durdin to new contracts so far this year.
