A pair of former first-round picks who are yet to cement their futures beyond the 2024 season are said to be in the sights of rival AFL clubs.

Sydney's Jacob Konstanty is one of just two first-round selections from the 2022 National Draft who are yet to extend their two-year draft contracts, with the Swans forward also yet to break into John Longmire's side midway through his second season in New South Wales.

The Gippsland Power product was selected with Pick 20 as the second last selection in the opening round of the draft and has continued to bide his time in the VFL, playing 18 games for a return of 22 goals since debuting early last year.

With the likes of Tom Papley, Sam Wicks and Will Hayward all holding down roles in the senior side, Konstanty has been required to wait in the wings before an AFL opportunity arises.

The teenager's situation and contract status have reportedly led to external interest from rival sides keen to bolster their small-forward stocks.

According to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey, Konstanty is one of two young players in NSW who are gaining "significant interest" ahead of the off-season.

Across at GWS, medium-sized forward Conor Stone has clubs "circling" his services as he too nears the end of his current contract.

The East Malvern product has played 11 games for the Giants since being taken with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 draft.

"Clubs have interest in two New South Wales-based players at the moment," Twomey told Gettable.

"Jacob Konstanty is one. He's one of two top 20 picks from 2022 who are yet to re-sign and has no offer yet to extend.

"He's been playing a bit of a deeper role, I think clubs see him as more of a pressure forward who can get up and back.

"And then there's Conor Stone at the Giants, a first-rounder in 2020. Has played 11 games in four years.

"Clubs as we know are looking at him, he's out-of-contract and they're circling him. A powerful medium forward.

"There's significant interest in both of those players."

Neither player is eligible for free agency and would need to be traded to find a new home at the end of this season.

The Swans have managed to retain most of their priority off-contract players this year, with the signature of in-demand free agent Will Hayward locked in this week.

That signing followed recent commitments from star trio Errol Gulden, James Rowbottom and Ollie Florent earlier this year.

The Giants have also announced a major re-signing this week, securing key defender Sam Taylor to a new seven-year extension that takes the All-Australian through to the end of 2032.

GWS are still needing to settle new deals for free agent pairing Isaac Cumming and Harry Perryman this year, with both players said to be of interest to other clubs.
