Delisted North Melbourne forward Drew Petrie has confirmed his interest in joining West Coast.
The Eagles have emerged as a possible destination for Petrie following his delisting from the Kangaroos at the end of the season.
Following long term injuries to ruckmen Nic Naitanui (knee) and Scott Lycett (knee), West Coast view Petrie as a viable boost to their ruck stocks for 2017.
Petrie confirmed on Wednesday that he is interested in continuing his career with the Eagles.
“It’s certainly no guarantees from them, they’ve got their eye on, I think, another player or two possibly ahead of me,” Petrie told the Herald Sun.
“They’re still working out what exactly they want to do for next season, but with Nic Naitanui going down for the year they have identified (a need) to replace that and I’m one of a few in contention.”
Petrie, 33, was cut by the Roos after 316 games and 428 goals in 16 seasons at Arden Street.
The key forward also told the Herald Sun that if the move fails to eventuate, he is interested in pursuing a career in coaching.
