Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has ensured the debut selection of recent pick five Adam Cerra in this weekendโ€™s clash with Essendon at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 50-point round one loss to Port Adelaide by introducing more fresh blood.

Lyon confirmed to Chanel 7 news on Tuesday that Cerra will be unveiled this Saturday night and hinted at a second debutant.

โ€œWeโ€™re certain Adam Cerra will play,โ€ Lyon said.

โ€œI urge all our members and fans to get along. Heโ€™s pick number five in the draft so you get to see Cerra and (Andrew) Brayshaw, our picks two and five and possibly another debutant.โ€

Lyon expects to see defender Joel Hamling return to the side and was โ€œreally hopefulโ€ of Stephen Hill's inclusion.

โ€œ(Hamling) had a back injury, he missed a fair bit of football (training),โ€ Lyon said.

โ€œSome things hadnโ€™t gone his way. He would have played at Peel the week before but he hadnโ€™t been able to because of his back, so he just needed a game under his belt (at Peel) and weโ€™re hopeful heโ€™ll play a role this week.โ€

Lyon was positive about the young brigade coming through the ranks with Peel Thunder and suggests the future is bright.

โ€œOur young players, we think weโ€™ve got a really exciting young batch,โ€ Lyon said.

โ€œWeโ€™re really excited and we need to expose them and bring them through.โ€.

Lyon was pleased with his sideโ€™s effort against the Power despite going down by such a large margin.

โ€œIt was a disappointing outcome but our effort was really strong,โ€ he said.

โ€œIf anything, we tried to blow them out of the water early and went over the hill a little bit.

โ€œItโ€™s a performance industry and weโ€™d like to have performed better.โ€
