McCarthy's tackle was assessed as careless conduct with high impact to the head, with Gilbert leaving the field in a stretcher.
Western Bulldogs' Lachie Hunter can accept a $1000 fine for rough conduct on West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern.
Adelaide's Mitch McGovern can also accept a $1000 fine for striking Carlton's Jacob Weitering.
