The AFL is nearing a finalised and reformed Round 20 fixture following the Queensland Government's announcement of a snap three-day lockdown.

The lockdown placed an end to professional sport in South-East Queensland, meaning three of the AFL's scheduled matches for the weekend would be postponed.

The hours after the announcement placed the league into a whirlwind, with clubs rushing to depart Gold Coast and Brisbane.

The Demons had made the trip up to the Sunshine State on Saturday morning, only to be told they will return to Victoria shortly after.

The Giants, Swans and Bombers join the Suns and Lions in residing in Queensland in the past few weeks as part of the AFL's hubs, with those clubs now looking to make the switch south to Melbourne, while the Lions were permitted entry to Tasmania.

As reported by Fox Footy's Tom Morris, the AFL could move both of Saturday's cancelled matches to Sunday.

The new fixture would see the Suns/Demons match played at Marvel Stadium to start the day, with GWS/Port Adelaide following in a double-header at Docklands.

Essendon's clash with Sydney would fall at 3:10pm at the MCG.

Revised Round 20 Sunday fixture (per Fox Footy):

12:10: Gold Coast v Melbourne (Marvel Stadium)
2.10: Hawthorn v Brisbane (Launceston
3:10 Essendon v Sydney (MCG)
5.10: Fremantle v Richmond (Optus Stadium)
6:10 GWS v Port Adelaide (Marvel Stadium)
