Round Five tipping insights: Will Adelaide recover from shock Collingwood defeat?

Round Four of AFL action was relatively kind to Superbru tippers as the average player managed a respectable 6.3 out of 9 with their predictions. All but two of the outcomes were predicted by a majority – the upsets of the round came on Friday as Collingwood comfortably beat the Adelaide Crows despite only 4% of players tipping them, and on Sunday when Essendon (picked by 16%) beat Port Adelaide by 22.

Here, we’ll be looking to see if those shocks have had an impact on the percentage of players backing Adelaide and Port Adelaide to win this weekend, as well as providing Superbru insights for all other Round Five AFL matches.

Sydney Swans vs. Adelaide Crows

Likely due to the strength of the Swans rather than being a result of last week’s shock defeat, just 7% of Superbru tippers expect the Adelaide Crows to win this game. The crowd expect the Swans to get the job done comfortably at the SCG.

St. Kilda vs. GWS Giants

The second of three opening games with a very clear majority, 94% of Superbru players expect the Giants to follow up last week’s win over Fremantle with a victory against St. Kilda. The Saints have lost three on the bounce since their opening day win, the tightest of which was last week’s defeat against Geelong which was still by 47.

Carlton vs. West Coast Eagles

95% of tippers have picked the West Coast Eagles to beat Carlton who are still yet to win in this 2018 season. The sky high average overall tip of West Coast Eagles by 25 suggests this could be a real hiding.

Port Adelaide vs. Geelong Cats

Surprise losers against Essendon last time out, but 74% of Superbru tippers expect Port Adelaide to return to winning ways immediately against Geelong. The average overall margin for this game is just seven so the fixture could well be close, especially with the momentum the Cats will have gained from that thumping win over St. Kilda in Round Four.

Fremantle vs. Western Bulldogs

Two teams that suffered losses in Round Four, 88% of the Superbru community believe it will be Fremantle that can bounce back here and inflict a fourth defeat of the season on the Western Bulldogs.

North Melbourne Kangaroos vs. Hawthorn

Hawthorn have only lost once so far this season and proved their ability comprehensively last weekend as they trounced Melbourne by 67. 88% of the crowd think they’ll defeat North Melbourne this week too, though the Kangaroos had an even bigger win themselves in Round Four as they destroyed Carlton by 86.

Brisbane Lions vs. Gold Coast Suns

Slightly more even than most of these fixtures in terms of tips, 26% of players have tipped the Lions despite them failing to register a win so far this season. Brisbane will surely win at some point soon, though last week’s loss by nearly 100 against Richmond wasn’t a promising sign!

Melbourne vs. Richmond

There are 85% tipping Richmond to win this game at the MCG following that heavy win over the Lions. The average overall pick currently stands at Richmond by 16.

Collingwood vs. Essendon

Can Collingwood follow up their victory that shocked Superbru last week with another here? 67% believe so! Both of these teams are 2-2 for the season and tips suggest this one really could go either way. The current average tip is Collingwood by 5.
