The Showdown is in line to make a premature return to the 2021 calendar as both South Australian clubs remain stranded in their home state.

Both Port Adelaide and Adelaide were set to head east to Victoria amid the South Australian government's announcement of a seven-day lockdown, with both clubs having since been turned around at the airport and are now remaining in SA overnight.

Following an outbreak in COVID-19 cases in SA, both the Crows and Power were set to fly to Melbourne on Tuesday ahead of their matches against Hawthorn and Collingwood respectively.

However, the Crows and Power are now tipped to face-off, meaning the Magpies and Hawks will play one-another in Melbourne this weekend, according toย SEN's Sam Edmund.

As highlighted by Edmund, the Showdown would be Port Adelaide star and three-time Showdown medallist Travis Boak's 300th match for the club.

Boak took home the best-on-ground honours in the corresponding Showdown clash this year, amassing 28 disposals, six clearances, and three tackles in Round 8.
