St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt believes it could well be the Giants' year in 2019 for their maiden Premiership. Sitting second on 8-3 with a substantial percentage difference over the Pies and the Eagles - GWS are in a strong position to finish in the double chance positions for the third time in the last four years.

"They've had a hunger and an edge that I didn't think they had," Riewoldt exclaimed to SEN Breakfast on Tuesday morning - answering the questions asked by the public.

After falling to a 3-2 start with a bad home loss to Fremantle, Riewoldt admitted he questioned the Giants before winning five of their next six games.

"I thought the Giants had reached a tipping point where they just started to fall off a little bit but they've blown me away."

When asked who his early prediction was he simply replied "Giants" and with two of their next three games against bottom eight sides, the reality of going 10-3 by the start of July would almost guarantee finals football in the west of Sydney again.

With the second-ranked offense, third-ranked defense and a high powered midfield with more kicks, marks and defensive ability to restrict opposition disposals greater than any other team in the league, Riewoldt's early prediction may just prove to be a strong call yet.

Only time will tell for the Giants, who have crashed out of the last three finals series prematurely but they are putting their hands up as a solid option for punters and supporters alike for this year's premiership.
