Jack Billings has turned his back on free agency and signed a new four-year deal with the Saints.

The classy left-footer was joined in re-signing by Paddy Ryder who signed a one-year extension.

St Kilda coach Brett Ratten confirmed the news on SEN Breakfast. Ratten said Billings had become a real leader in his time at Moorabbin and deserved the long-term deal.

“Jack Billings has signed for around four years, and Paddy Ryder for a year as well”, he said.

”Jack‘s been a great contributor at the St Kilda Football Club. At his age and with where we can go, he’s going to be an important part.

“With where he was picked in the draft, people have huge expectations.

“Internally he plays his role on the wing, gets a lot of the ball, hits the scoreboard, and his leadership is growing.”

Head of List Management James Gallagher said securing both Ryder and Billings signatures were cause for great hope for 2022 and beyond for Saints fans.

“We’re really thrilled to have both Jack and Paddy sign on with us,” Gallagher said.

“They’re both well-respected players who have really bought into the club and the vision we’re building.

“We’re really lucky to have Jack commit long-term to the club. He’s the ultimate professional, always adhering himself and others to really high-standards which is exactly what we need from a young leader like him.

“Jack has the capabilities and dedication to elevate his game to another level and can play a variety of roles for the team. We look forward to seeing what the upcoming seasons will bring.”

“Paddy’s continued to show his importance despite his age. His ruck work is first-class and we’ve been fortunate to have him at the club over the past two seasons.
