St Kilda CEO Simon Lethlean has revealed that the Saint's list strategy will continue to focus heavily on the draft.
The Saints axed head coach Brett Ratten in October and announced the appointment of Ross Lyon to the position on Monday, who is set to lead the club in 2023 and beyond.
With a new coach in place, Lethlean has outlined how St Kilda will strengthen its list after a 10th-place finish in the 2022 season, and could look to swap picks to strengthen their draft hand.
"It's probably been pretty clear this year after a pretty successful draft last year with (Marcus) Windhager, (Nasiah) Wanganeen-Milera, and (Mitch) Owens to focus on our draft picks," he told 3AW.
"We've got four picks inside pick 32, and we'll work with other clubs to try to improve that if we can.
"We want to focus on our current core, adding three or four more talented players from the draft and then we'll have a new three-year list strategy in place once our list management team has sat down with the new coach and new coaching staff."
The Saints currently hold Picks 9, 28, 32, and 47 in this year's draft hand, but were quiet in an otherwise action-packed Trade Period.
Utility Zaine Cordy was the lone addition to St Kilda's list, with the club also keeping defender Hunter Clark after he received interest from North Melbourne.
"We needed to find a backup tall to play in different spots, and we did that through a free agent in Zaine Cordy," Lethlean said.
"We otherwise kept our powder dry to focus on the draft. We didn't want to let Hunter Clark go: he's talented, we think there's an upside, and hopefully, our fans agree that with Ross coming in now someone like Hunter and others might thrive after a couple of years of poor injuries."
Clark, aged 23, played eight games this season and averaged 15.1 disposals and 2.8 marks across half-back.
