St Kilda small defender Ben Paton has reportedly met with GWS as the latter looks to bring in ready-made talent.
The Giants are in the premiership window and are aiming to bolster their defensive line-up following the departures of Isaac Cumming (Adelaide), Harry Perryman (Collingwood) and Nick Haynes (Carlton).
Paton has played 71 games since being taken with Pick 46 in the 2017 National Draft but struggled to get on the park this year, playing four matches.
The 25-year-old remains in limbo for next year, having not yet got a contract for 2025 but also not been a part of St Kilda's delistings so far.
The Giants have generally used the rookie draft as a way to re-pick their delisted players but will be on the search for experience after the trade period.
At his best, Paton would limit some of the game's best small forwards and is hitting his prime.
He'd also add speed and dare to their back half, which is a huge feature of Adam Kingsley's side.
If the Saints were to delist him, GWS could pick up him as a delisted free agent or attempt to broker a trade.
