St Kilda 2021 draftee Oscar Adams will front the playing group to apologise for a recent drink-driving incident that has seen the teenager suspended by the club for the opening rounds of the 2022 season.

Adams was reportedly involved in an incident in the early hours of Saturday, February 5, with the club opening an investigation into the matter after being made aware by authorities.

St Kilda have confirmed Adams was above the blood alcohol limit at the time of the incident, with no formal drink driving charges known at the time of writing.

The incident has been found to have breached both Adams' player contract and the AFL Players Code of Conduct following an internal review from the club's integrity committee and leadership group.

Adams will now be ineligible for selection until at least Round 3 of the VFL season, which will commence on April 8.

The South Australian will also be required to make an in-person apology to his teammates and commit to regular, unpaid work with St Kilda's extensive community programs throughout the year.

"The Club has this week been made aware by the relevant authorities that Adams was above the legal blood alcohol limit at the time of the incident. It has not been made aware of any formal charges at this time," a club statement reads.

"The Club reserves its right to consider further sanctions in the event that Adams is convicted of a drink driving offence.

"In the interim, the Club will not be making any further comments regarding this incident."

Adams joined the Saints from Glenelg in the SANFL, with the 51st overall selection in the 2021 National Draft.
