St Kilda draftee Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera will be named in Brett Ratten's 22-man side this weekend in what will be his on-field debut for the club.

Named as the medical sub and going unused in last Friday's loss to Collingwood, the talented teenager officially made his first 'appearance' at AFL level at Marvel Stadium.

With Ratten set to wrung the changes in hope of levelling his side's season record against Fremantle this weekend, the Saints senior coach confirmed Wanganeen-Milera will be part of his starting side for Sunday's clash at Optus Stadium.

โ€œNasiah will play this week, heโ€™ll be in the team,โ€ Ratten said, via the club's website.

โ€œHis kicking and his movement has been a real feature, and itโ€™s such a strong part of his game and the reason why he got drafted in the first place.

โ€œHe had a little bit of a setback through injury in the early part of pre-season, but itโ€™s a credit to him that he was able to get a look-in for Round 1 and is now in the side for Round 2.

โ€œYou feel bad as a match committee when you bring somebody in and theyโ€™re the sub and they donโ€™t get on the ground. I was happy he didnโ€™t get on the ground because we didnโ€™t get an injury, but it would have been nice to inject him into the game."

Wanganeen-Milera joined the Saints as the 11th selection in last November's National Draft, venturing from SANFL side Glenelg after a stellar 2021 campaign.

The defensive-minded wingman is touted as an efficient user of the ball that boasts the agility to weave through contests and ignite attacking movement.

The Saints came through unscathed from their 17-point loss to the Magpies, however critical selection calls are sure to be made in the wake of a disappointing outing for Brett Ratten's side in their season opener.

St Kilda will face Fremantle on Sunday, with the Western Australian club seeking their second victory in as many weeks when they host the Saints at Optus Stadium.
