St Kilda winger Mason Wood is set to spend time on the sidelines after paying the price for his courageousness in St Kilda's win over Collingwood on Thursday night.

The former Kangaroo found himself airborne after colliding with his teammate Zaine Cordy during the opening term of the victory.

Wood was stretchered off the MCG and sent to hospital, with scans confirming the 30-year-old had suffered both concussion and a broken collarbone.

Speaking post-game, Saints coach Ross Lyon tipped his cap to Wood's attack on the footy whilst also expressing concern for the veteran.

"He's such a good lad. It was pretty courageous," Lyon said of Wood.

"He knocked himself out and broke a collarbone. We're concerned about him."

There were also fears for the health of recent recruit Liam Henry after the ex-Docker failed to finish the game.

However, Lyon quelled any concerns, revealing that Henry had just run out of juice.

"Henry just might be severe cramp. We all acknowledge his speed and his run," he said.

The Western Australian will remain in the selection frame for St Kilda's Round 3 clash against Essendon with two teams set to meet at 4:20pm on Saturday evening.
