GWS superstar Sam Taylor has been cleared to play just over a month on from his gruesome injury suffered in the Round 14 win over Port Adelaide.

Taylor will return to the field in Round 20, when the Giants meet Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday night, allowing him a five-week runway into a potential finals campaign.

"We had some interesting discussions with Sam, he's such a competitor" GWS Football Manager Jason McCartney said Friday morning on SEN Breakfast.

"So, cleared to play... next week."

"He was pushing a strong case numerous times yesterday at training."

"We just need to get a little bit more work into him... high intensity running and things like that."

The All-Australian defender ruptured his testicle in the 22-point win last month, with initial fears of a six-week absence.

The return dates of stars Josh Kelly and Stephen Coniglio were also hinted by McCartney, with the latter set to make his comeback very soon.

Kelly is still up to a month away, a very unfortunate timeline given his All-Australian form when playing this season.

"Josh Kelly with that tendon injury in the calf, he'll still be at least three, maybe four," he added.

"Stephen Coniglio's just managing, the six-day turnaround hasn't helped him, this week he'll miss but we think he should be right next week."

"He's just going to have ongoing management with the shoulder issue until the end of the year."

The Giants will be tasked with continuing their valuable win streak without these three against the Suns on Saturday at Engie Stadium.
