Delisted GWS defender Cameron Fleeton will venture to the SANFL for the 2024 season after signing with the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles.

Fleeton was cut by the Giants at the cessation of the recent AFL season following three years with the New South Wales club, where he played two games at the top level.

2023 would be a significant year for Fleeton, with a debut coming at the MCG in Round 9 against Collingwood following a strong run of VFL form.

The 21-year-old retained his place in Adam Kingsley's side for another week before returning to the state league level, with his efforts for the Giants' reserves seeing the backman earn a place in the VFL Team of the Year.

The Geelong West junior averaged a team-high 22.7 disposals and 8.1 marks per game in the VFL in 2023.

Fleeton was one of two Giants players not offered new deals for the 2024 season, with the young defender deciding to move to South Australia after his GWS departure.

Woodville-West Torrens announced the addition of Fleeton ahead of the new year, adding the Victorian to their recent recruitment ranks.

"The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cameron Fleeton, a 192cm intercept defender," a club post read.

"Drafted out of the Geelong Falcons, Cam has spent the past 3 seasons at the GWS Giants in the AFL, and was a member of the 2023 VFL team of the year.

"We can't wait to see the 22 year old in Eagles colours in 2024, so join us in welcoming Cameron Fleeton to our Club."

Fleeton joins former Port Adelaide midfielder Nathan Barkla and ex-Hawthorn utility Josh Morris in heading to the Eagles from the AFL this off-season.

Set to be led by former GWS, Adelaide and Carlton ruckman Sam Jacobs next year, Woodville-West Torrens will be looking to improve on their 2023 eighth-placed finish under their new coach.

The Eagles have also announced a total of 26 re-signings for 2024 within the past two weeks.
