Argubaly the best player in the SANFL competition is on the cusp of realising his AFL dream in the upcoming National Draft.
Norwood star Harry Boyd, who won the competition's Magarey Medal, is in line to join AFL club St Kilda as a backup tall for Rowan Marshall.
The Saints lost a heap of height during the off-season, with Josh Battle (Hawthorn), Tim Membrey (Collingwood), Tom Campbell (Melbourne), and Jack Hayes (delisted) all departing the club.
It means the Moorabbin club is light-on for talls, especially in the front half, with a larger reliance on Max King, Cooper Sharman and Anthony Caminiti, who has been deployed in the back half at times.
Boyd, 198cm, has quietly nominated for the AFL draft, and it's believed he has met the Saints, according to the Herald Sun.
In a dominant season, Boyd shared the SANFL's top individual award with former Essendon player Will Snelling, polling 34 votes and averaging 21 disposals, 10 clearances, four tackles and 41 hit-outs in 18 matches.
Boyd was the first ruckman to win the Magarey Medal since 2001 when Port Adelaide's Ryan O'Connor drew with teammate Tony Brown.
The 26-year-old has played 78 matches for Norwood since relocating to South Australia from Shepparton in Victoria ahead of the 2021 season.
His time in red and blue now includes the 2022 Premiership, 2022 Michael Taylor Medal (Norwood Best and Fairest), 2022 Jack Oatey Medal, 2024 Magarey Medal, 2024 R.O Shearman Medal, The Advertiser Team of the Year selections and multiple State Games for South Australia.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to add another premiership in 2024, failing to topple a rampaging Glenelg in the grand final.
St Kilda heads into the upcoming National Draft with Picks 7, 8, 32, 47, 80 and 88.
The Saints currently have 36 players on their list, including four rookies.
Clubs are permitted to have a minimum of 37 players and a maximum of 44 players on their books, with primary lists between 36 and 38 players.
