Adelaide Crows defender Andrew McPherson has been ruled out for the remainder of this season after suffering a PCL injury during a SANFL game last weekend.

The improving McPherson has played 28 senior games at West Lakes since debuting during the COVID-interrupted 2020 season, including a single 2022 appearance in Round 1 against Fremantle.

The 23-year-old won't require surgery, however will have his 2022 campaign curtailed.

“As it turns out he’s done a significant PCL injury and he won’t require surgery but he will be out for the rest of the season,” Burgess said.

“It’s really disappointing for Andrew, he’s had a bit of an interrupted season so his recovery will be between 4-6 weeks in a brace and then start to get moving after that, so all eyes will be on next pre-season.”

McPherson played in 18 of 22 games last season, establishing himself as a solid piece of Adelaide's defensive unit.

He now joins Rory Sloane (knee) and Paul Seedsman (concussion) in being ruled out for the remainder of the year.

The Crows, coming off a narrow loss to Collingwood last weekend, will go into battle against the in-form Sydney Swans this Saturday afternoon at the SCG.
