North Melbourne has confirmed young forward Brayden George's 2024 season is over after the sophomore Kanagroo suffered an ACL injury in the VFL over the weekend.
The serious knee injury, suffered after landing awkwardly in a marking contest, is the second of its kind for George in the past two years, with the Murray Bushrangers product having his draft campaign end abruptly due to a knee reconstruction.
The Roos rolled the dice on the 20-year-old with Pick 26 at the 2022 National Draft knowing George would likely spend the majority of his maiden season in the AFL on the sidelines in rehabilitation.
The fiery forward's luckless run with injury continued last October when George suffered a dislocated elbow and required surgery following a gym mishap.
George made his long-awaited VFL debut in Round 1 this year against the Northern Bullants and played six further games to build up his workloads in a bid to break into Alastair Clarkson's senior side for an AFL debut.
Unfortunately, George's 2024 campaign has been cut short after the young Roo went down with a worrying knee injury on Sunday against Collingwood.
The young Kangaroo started his VFL career positively in a midfield role under coach Tom Lynch, averaging 19.5 disposals per game across his opening month at the level.
George is off-contract this year after joining the Roos on a two-year draft contract.
He joins Callum Coleman-Jones and Josh Goater in missing the rest of the season at North Melbourne, with the duo sidelined in the opening half of the season with Achilles injuries.
