The Lions went one better than 2019 - they managed to win a huge final over the Tigers before going out in the preliminary final, a home one of that.
They were unable to capitalise on a once in a lifetime opportunity, the grand final was played on their home deck and they were unable to participate.
A year littered with poor goal kicking, the Lions are primed to challenge for the flag again in 2021 but will need to make drastic improvements in front of the big sticks to win it all.
Qualifying Final vs Richmond: The Lions had the crowd behind them and looked destined for the grand final after they managed to defeat the reigning champions in emphatic style. They put their foot down in the second half and were far too good.
Preliminary Final vs Geelong: After that terrific win mentioned above, many believed it was the Lions' right to play in the first grand final at the GABBA. However, come preliminary final night, the Lions were no match for the Cats. They were outplayed from start to finish and were never really in the game. It was a disappointing end to a good year.
Lachie Neale: The Brownlow Medalist was a head and shoulders above the rest of his colleagues this season. He dominated games at will and was as damaging as he has ever been with such disposals. Neale was a worthy Brownlow winner and looked the winner early in the season. His dominat season allowed his fellow midfielders to get off the chain and made Brisbane a very dangerous side.
Cam Rayner: The former number one draft pick showed why he was so highly touted as a junior - Rayner was suited to the shorter quarters and able to have an impact on games as a half forward. He was a key culprit of the team's inaccuracy in front of goal but he had plenty of chances, which allowed him to still have an impact on games.
Oscar McInerney: The Big 'O' had a pretty good season for the Lions, however, Stefan Martin has now departed for pastures new and McInerney is the number one ruck now. He has to lift his output and needs be consistent because the midfield is relying on him to help supply them with first access to the ball.

The Lions will again be competing at the top of the ladder in a bid for the premiership. They will be forced to travel more than last season, however, will be a year older and more finals experienced.
The Lions have managed to bring in Joe Daniher, who will help straighten up one of their clear deficiencies of the last few years, however, he is a question mark himself. The Lions' home ground advantage does give them a huge advantage in the race for a top four finish.
It's hard to see them missing out on the double chance.
