Geelong had high hopes going into season 2020, hoping to right the wrongs of their 2019 prelim final exit at the hands of the Tigers.

Their elite list meant that they were once again firmly entrenched in the contender column of most people's season predictions, and they lived up to that label as they made their first grand final since 2011.

However, the season was to end in heartbreak as they were once again denied by Richmond as Gary Ablett Jr.'s amazing career ended on a low.

3. MVP

Tom Hawkins:ย The 32-year-old was the best forward of the year by far after coming off a disappointing end to 2019 where he missed out on a preliminary final as a result of suspension.

The big man kicked 49 goals in 21 appearances and averaged 12.3 disposals per game. Unsurprisingly he picked up his first Coleman Medal as well as his third All-Australian blazer.
