Geelong had high hopes going into season 2020, hoping to right the wrongs of their 2019 prelim final exit at the hands of the Tigers.

Their elite list meant that they were once again firmly entrenched in the contender column of most people's season predictions, and they lived up to that label as they made their first grand final since 2011.

However, the season was to end in heartbreak as they were once again denied by Richmond as Gary Ablett Jr.'s amazing career ended on a low.

Sam Menegola:ย The midfielder has come on in leaps and bounds over the course of 2020 and cemented himself as one of the Cats most pivotal players.

The 28-year-old averaged 21.1 disposals and 5.6 marks, and was instrumental in getting the Cats into a Grand Final.
