Geelong had high hopes going into season 2020, hoping to right the wrongs of their 2019 prelim final exit at the hands of the Tigers.

Their elite list meant that they were once again firmly entrenched in the contender column of most people's season predictions, and they lived up to that label as they made their first grand final since 2011.

However, the season was to end in heartbreak as they were once again denied by Richmond as Gary Ablett Jr.'s amazing career ended on a low.

7. 2021 CRYSTAL BALL

With the players that the Cats have gotten in during the trade period, anything but a premiership would be disappointing.

Their list is arguably the best in the competition, and with Jeremy Cameron to partner Tom Hawkins inside 50 and Smith and Higgins joining a star-studded midfield, the Cats should be winning the flag.

There will be zero excuses for failure, and there is no doubt Chris Scott will be busy over the summer trying to correct their grand final failures.
