Port Adelaide are in line to make multiple changes for Friday's preliminary final against minor premiers Sydney, with coach Ken Hinkley "optimistic" veteran forward Charlie Dixon and defender Ryan Burton will be available to face the Swans.
Burton is aiming to return from a calf issue that saw him miss last week's win over Hawthorn, while Dixoin was a late out for the semi-final due to illness.
With tall forward Todd Marshall sidelined due to concussion, Dixon - who looks to have shaken off his latest issue - is the likely inclusion into Hinkley's front third.
Burton's potential return will cause some headaches at selection, with youngster Josh Sinn his replacement to face the Hawks, performing well in the role.
Wingman Jase Burgoyne could return to a role higher up the field after slotting into the backline, while tactical sub Will Lorenz could make way, potentially shuffling one of Sinn, Quinton Narkle or Francis Evans to bench role.
Speaking to media on Wednesday morning, Hinkley said the club expects both Dixon and Burton to play, with the latter's form too good to ignore despite coming off a thrilling three-point win over Hawthorn in his absence.
"We're optimistic [Dixon] be available to play, we're optimistic Burton will also be available to play," Hinkley said.
"We'll train in Sydney tomorrow, there's lots of things still to tick off and get through before we can confirm ins or outs.
"You look to try and improve your side. Ryan's form the previous three weeks... If he wasn't in our best two or three players he was in our best four.
"If he's fit he'll be playing."
The Power will take an extended squad to Sydney to avoid any potential last minute selection issues, with the club having a large handful of fringe options to consider as the club's SANFL season is over.
Wanting to avoid a situation that saw them on the phone to rookie Kyle Marshall - who wasn't far from Kardinia Park despite not being part of the squad - for a potential debut against Geelong in Round 21 last year after illness forced Hinkley into two late changes, the Power won't be taking any risks on the road.
"We'll take all of our emergencies with us," Hinkley added.
"We'll travel with a full squad and a couple of extras just in case. We're not playing the Magpies and we've got the opportunity to take as many as we need to.
"We hope we never have to use them all, but you never know. I've been to a game in the past not that long ago when we ran out of emergencies and were ringing a player, who was visiting family in the same town, to get him to come and play.
"We were down in Geelong and had about eight players get crook. Young Kyle Marshall was in his first year.
"You cover as many bases as you possibly can, particularly at this time of the year."
The Power and Swans go head-to-head on Friday night at the SCG for a place in the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
