The 2021 season was full of impressive goals, marks and memorable wins, but some feel-good stories emerged too as the league and the country adjusted to a new look AFL season.

2. North Melbourne's first winย 

The Kangaroos have seen their fair share of losses over the last two seasons, a 17th place finish in 2020 led to a wooden spoon in 2021 and with it, a 17-game losing streak dating back to Round 9, 2020.

The season started dismally at Arden Street. Eight losses - including a 128-point Good Friday demolition to the Bulldogs - seemed to paint a picture of a potentially winless season. The tide turned in Tassie though, with a young Kangaroos team giving David Noble an unexpected but welcomed birthday present.

Down by 32 points against Hawthorn, another loss looked on the cards in Launceston until an invigorated fightback gave the Roos a much needed six-point win.

Veteran Ben Cunnington's contribution, paired with young gun Cam Zurhaarโ€™s four goals gave fans plenty to smile about as they celebrated their drought-breaking win.
