The 2021 season was full of impressive goals, marks and memorable wins, but some feel-good stories emerged too as the league and the country adjusted to a new look AFL season.

3. Dreamtime in Perth
For the second time in two years, Dreamtime was played away from its traditional base of the MCG due to the COVID outbreak on the eastern seaboard.
Relocated to Optus Stadium in Perth, the showpiece of the annual Sir Doug Nicholls Round sold out in just 17 hours. The annual Long Walk was embraced by Perth locals, with up to 6000 people joining Michael Long on the way to Optus Stadium. Inside the ground, a crowd of 55,656 filled the stadium and watched both the game and pre-match ceremonies eagerly.

In the end, the Tigers ended up triumphant, beating the Bombers by 39 points, while the Perth crowd, and impressive tv ratings, gave AFL HQ something to think about as the game looks to move back to a relatively normal season calendar.
