Ollie Wines and Travis Boak are among a group of seven AFL-listed Port Adelaide players that have gone under the knife in the post-season.
Having failed to qualify for the finals for the first time since 2019, Port Adelaide has switched its focus and decided to minimise the risk of interruption to the pre-season preparation of injured players by sending them into surgery.
The group of players that will be undertaking post-op rehabilitation includes Tom Clurey, Mitch Georgiades, Riley Bonner, Lachie Jones, Josh Sinn and the aforementioned pair of Wines and Boak.
Wines is one of two Port Adelaide players that will have an interrupted start to pre-season training after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
He has endured a difficult 2022 campaign after playing a starring role in 2021 that included a historic 36-vote Brownlow Medal win.
Young defender Sinn will also start on a lighter program when he resumes training in November.
Key forward Georgiades and utility Jones had surgery on injuries sustained in Rounds 20 and 23 respectively.
Both are important young players and neither are expected to require a staggered pre-season training progression.
Bonner and Clurey had clean-out procedures on their ankle and knee respectively.
