Arch-rivals Adelaide and Port Adelaide will head to Mount Barker in a twilight (5pm) "Summit Showdown" early next year as part of their pre-season build-up to the 2025 campaign.

The AFL announced the AAMI Community Series fixture that will take place from Tuesday, February 25, to Sunday, March 2, before Opening Round.

The Crows and Power, to prepare for the upcoming campaign, will play a pre-season match, outside the arranged community series, at the Summit Sport and Recreation Park, which has previously hosted clashes during the league's Gather Round.

Mount Barker hosted two games there in 2024, witnessing Sydney defeat West Coast and the Giants down fellow expansion club Gold Coast.

The year before saw Brisbane smash North Melbourne by 75 points.

All three contests hosted well over 7,000 spectators, with the pair of 2024 clashes nearing 10,000.

While the footy festival has headed to the Barossa Valley for 2025, Mount Barker has been rewarded for its stellar job the past two years by luring the two SA clubs to the region.

"It's always exciting to see our team back in action after a long pre-season, and we are looking forward to getting up to Mount Barker where the community has really embraced AFL football during Gather Round in the past couple of years," Adelaide CEO Tim Silvers said.

"It's a great opportunity to have an important pre-season hit-out and at a venue that is AFL standard and so close to the city."

The event will be hosted by Mount Barker District Council, and part of proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Crows Foundation to deliver its child and youth mental health program, Open Parachute, to local school students in the lead-up.

All other members and supporters can purchase tickets via Ticketmaster from Friday, 20 December at 9 am.

The following week, both Port Adelaide and Adelaide will travel interstate as a final tune-up before the beginning of the season.

The Crows will travel to Brisbane to take on the reigning premiers while the Power head to Melbourne to face St Kilda.
