The future of West Coast free agent Elliot Yeo is becoming clearer, with "significant movement" in negotiations between the midfielder and the Eagles expected to lead to the veteran recommitting to the Perth powerhouse.

Yeo has been one of several leading names on the open market this year given his status as an unrestricted free agent which has led to high levels of interest from rival clubs.

Adelaide, Collingwood, North Melbourne and Geelong have each been linked to the 30-year-old this year as West Coast look to retain their in-form star.

Previous reports surrounding Yeo's future suggested the Eagles had tabled a disappointing two-year deal to the premiership utility while Adelaide and North Melbourne were piecing together big offers for unsigned Eagle.

According to 7 News Perth's Ryan Daniels, West Coast have increased their latest bid to three years - an offer that Yeo is now expected to sign, keeping him in the royal blue and gold until the end of 2027.

Daniels has revealed that "significant movement" over the past week has led to positive talks between Yeo and the club, with an agreement all but settled between the two parties.

Elliot addressed his future on 96FM on Tuesday, confirming talks with the club had opened up and that a deal could be finalised in the coming weeks.

"There's been more communication from West Coast which is good," Yeo revealed.

"There's a lot more open communication, which hopefully in the coming weeks we can come to an agreement.

"Yeah [the dialogue] has [changed], I was getting a little bit worried. It's open now and hopefully we can come to an agreement."

The now seemingly imminent re-signing will see the Eagles secure the services of their top retention target for 2024, with West Coast now likely to look toward landing a new deal for co-captain Liam Duggan.

Duggan joins Yeo in being among the Eagles' six players eligible for free agency this year, with veteran Andrew Gaff another on the list.

Gaff's future is less certain given his struggles to hold down a role in the senior side where he has struggled to have the same influence in years gone by.

Defensive pair Jamaine Jones and Josh Rotham are also yet to settle new deals and are unrestricted free agents this season, while midfielder Zane Trew falls under the same band after being delisted in the past like Jones.

The Eagles have a host of younger players unsigned for next year who aren't free agents, including Jai Culley, Tyrell Dewar, Harry Edwards and Jack Williams, while Alex Witherden is also still without a contract for 2025.

West Coast have managed to retain Harry Barnett (2026), Ryan Maric (2026), Liam Ryan (2026) and Bailey J. Williams (2026) to new deals so far this year.
