A third of AFL clubs are reportedly keen on dealing with Gold Coast in the hope of acquiring the Suns' selection of Pick 12 for the 2024 AFL Draft.

The selection - which is tied to the Western Bulldogs - is one of four picks the Suns hold in the top 26 spots in this year's draft queue. The Suns acquired the selection from the Bulldogs via last year's trade period in a deal that saw the Victorian club move into the top four on the draft board while parting with a trio of first-round selections.

The Dogs' finish finish and week one exit from the September series saw this year's opening pick land at 12th overall, adding to Gold Coast's own pick at sixth overall and Pick 20 in the first round, with that selection a product of North Melbourne's 2023 assistance package.

The Suns are open to parting with their earliest selections given the club's ties to Academy gun Leonardo Lombard, who could earn a bid in the top 10 spots of November's intake and will swallow up the following selections in Gold Coast's draft hand.

Ideal business will see the Suns split their valuable selections into later picks or players, with their top pick likely on the way to Richmond in exchange for premiership Tigers flanker Daniel Rioli, with other selections swapping hands.

Pick 12 will also need to be moved on to avoid losing it in a Lombard bid, with clubs aware of the selection's availability.

The situation has led to as many as six clubs showing an interest in the mid-first-round selection, with Collingwood, Carlton, Adelaide, North Melbourne, GWS and Melbourne said to be eyeing Pick 12, per AFL.com.au.

Interest from the Magpies, Blues and Roos comes as all three clubs look to compile assets to appease Port Adelaide in their pursuit of All-Australian defender Dan Houston.

Adelaide, Melbourne and GWS could also look to move the selection on to another rival to further their trade plans, but all six clubs would be satisfied with a spot high up in the draft queue.

Collingwood currently don't have a first-round draft selection and will be keen to add to their draft hand, with John Noble's desire to join the Suns a pathway for the Magpies to secure Pick 12.

Carlton aren't looking to move from their opening at Pick 11, while North Melbourne (Pick 2), Adelaide (Pick 4) and Melbourne (Pick 5) could add to their already strong draft hands.
