Geelong skipper Joel Selwood is said to have slashed six-figures off the final year of his contract with the Cats in an effort to get Jeremy Cameron across from the Giants.
According to Herald Sun journalists Jay Clark, Glenn McFarlane and Jon Ralph, the hardnosed 33-year-old was reported to have wound his annual salary back to just $550,000 this season so Cameron could fit under the cap.
Despite the fact that Selwood could have commanded a greater deal elsewhere, as he is in the 10th season of his captaincy stint with the club that drafted him back in 2006, it is clear that the Bendigo Pioneers product values flags above financial rewards.

Although once again hamstrung, Cameron has booted just shy of three-goals a game this season for the Hoops after inking a rich six-year contract with the Kardinia Park club.
Cameron - along with former prized import Patrick Dangerfield - is on a deal worth around $900,000 a season if the claims of the aforesaid trio of scribes are correct.

As loyal as he is uncompromising when it comes to winning the Sherrin, Selwood's pay-cut must also be seen as a move that will hopefully extend his stint in the pivot city.
Irrespective, in this current are where players, quite rightfully, seek quality remuneration as well as premierships, if the Cats can claim the flag this season, then Selwood's status as hooped legend will certainly go to another level.
With the scars of the memory of last year's Grand Final still fresh in his mind, you can bet your bottom dollar that redemption will be the only thing on the six-time All Australians mind for the remainder of the season.
And should the Moggs greet the judges first on the last Saturday of September, then you can also be sure that Cameron will be picking up Selwood's tab on 'Mad Monday'.
