Fledgling Magpie Will Kelly has committed his future to Collingwood, signing a one-year extension to remain in black and white.
Originally brought to the AIA Centre with the 29th pick of the 2018 National Draft, the son of premiership Pie turned player manager Craig Kelly has fallen down the pecking order of late.
Having debuted as a forward in 2020, Kelly added a further two senior appearances across the course of the 2021 season.
While the 22-year-old spent the entirety of 2022 plying his trade at VFL level, Kelly was asked to learn the ropes down back.
Speaking in the wake of obtaining the son-of-a-gun's signature, list boss Graham Wright claimed the sky was the limit for the young Pie.
“We see a lot of potential in Will based on what he has shown us during his time in the VFL and his few appearances at AFL level,” Wright said.
“While he hasn't had much opportunity in the AFL due to injury, we believe we will see Will's football progress in 2023 and utilise his athleticism more across both programs next year.
“As a versatile tall, Will can play both ends of the ground and we are eager to see what he will bring next season.”
