WAFL club South Fremantle has been left "in deep shock" following the passing of player Nick Campo, who was involved in a car accident that included several Bulldogs teammates overnight.

The club released a statement on Sunday confirming the unfortunate circumstances and outcome of the accident, with South Fremantle placing its support behind its personnel and the families of those impacted by the tragedy.

"South Fremantle Football Club is deeply saddened by news of a car accident overnight involving several of our Colts players, resulting in the tragic death of South Fremantle footballer Nick Campo," Bulldogs CEO Cameron Britt said in a club statement.

"We are a club in deep shock, focused upon supporting our players, staff and their families in these tragic circumstances.

"We ask that all involved are given the appropriate space and respect to grieve."

Campo, a listed player with the Bulldogs and a member of the club's Colts side, had played seven matches at the level in the red and white.

The teenager played in four games this year. He featured in the club's most recent Colts game - a loss to Claremont last weekend.

South Fremantle had a bye this week and return on July 20 for a game against Subiaco.
