North Melbourne pre-season recruit Tyler Sellers is set to make his AFL debut just 56 days after signing with the Kangaroos' senior squad.
A member of the club's VFL program last year, Sellers trained in Alastair Clarkson's squad over the course of the recent summer to help strengthen numbers on the park for the Roos.
While not listed as a Supplemental Selection Period prospect, Sellers would soon find himself with the opportunity to secure an AFL contract in the wake of his impressive pre-season.
After scoring 30 goals for the Roos' reserves in 2023, Sellers' goalkicking nous was on display during the club's intra-club in February. The 21-year-old scored three goals and earned a move to the 'A side' mid-game.
Sellers' strong form to start the year has only continued at VFL level, with the strong attacker kicking nine goals and averaging 13.5 disposals per game from his two appearances so far.
A product of VAFA club Old Scotch, the SSP recruit is now set to play his first AFL game and combine with spearhead Nick Larkey when the Kangaroos take on Geelong this Sunday at Kardinia Park.
Sellers' inclusion comes as the Roos lose fellow forward Cameron Zurhaar to a calf issue, while attacker Jaidyn Stephenson was omitted from the Round 5 squad.
North Melbourne also named Will Phillips, Jackson Archer, Blake Drury and Robert Hansen jnr as potential inclusions alongside Sellers, with teams for Sunday to be reduced to 23 players on Friday evening.
The Kangaroos will travel to GMHBA Stadium on Sunday for a 1:00pm (AEST) clash with an undefeated Cats side as they chase their first win of 2024.
