St Kilda has confirmed the departure of veteran forward Tim Membrey, who has not been offered a contract by the club for the 2025 season.

Membrey leaves Moorabbin after 10 seasons in the red, white and black, with the 30-year-old playing 178 games for the club after moving back to Victoria from Sydney at the end of the 2014 season.

The sharpshooting forward kicked 293 goals for the Saints and would lead the club's goalkicking in three separate seasons. Membrey played 19 games under coach Ross Lyon this year for a return of 30 goals - the second most at the Saints in 2024.

Membrey played one game for the Swans across two seasons before making a move to St Kilda in 2014.

โ€œThe past ten years have been an incredible privilege,โ€ Membrey said.

โ€œI have loved being here at the club with the many teammates who I am proud to call friends by my side, and have felt supported by the Saints faithful every step of the way.

โ€œI am excited for this new chapter with my family and will forever be grateful for their support across my career and into the future.โ€

Membrey has been closely linked with a move to Collingwood ahead of Friday's opening for delisted free agency, with the Traralgon product understood to have passed medical testing at Olympic Park in recent weeks.

The Saints' decision to part with Membrey following the 2024 season will allow the senior forward to join the Magpies as early as this week.

โ€œOn behalf of everyone here at St Kilda, we would like to sincerely thank Tim for his exceptional service over the past decade,โ€ EGM Footballย David Missonย said.

โ€œTim has been the definition of a heart and soul player throughout his time at the club, giving his absolute all on and off the field.

โ€œAs we look to expose our young forwards to more senior opportunities moving into 2025, this was a tough but ultimately necessary decision to make.

โ€œWe wish Tim, wife Emily and children Wren and Beau all the best for whatever the future holds, and they leave forever part of the Saints.โ€

Membrey's delisting follows the departures of Matthew Allison (delisted), Josh Battleย (Hawthorn Hawks),ย Riley Bonnerย (delisted),ย Tom Campbellย (Melbourne Demons),ย Sebastian Ross (delisted) and James Van Es (delisted) this off-season.
