St Kilda have announced the signing of teenager Anthony Caminiti ahead of Wednesday's Supplemental Selection Period deadline.
Caminiti was invited to train at Moorabbin with less than two weeks remaining in the SSP as the Saints looked to fill their last remaining list spot ahead of the home and away season.
St Kilda had already trialled former Essendon defender Josh Eyre and ex-Carlton midfielder Liam Stocker across their pre-season program, with the latter earning a contract at Linton Street while Eyre was overlooked following his stint with the Saints.
Recent injuries to key forward options Max King, Jack Hayes and Matt Allison in recent months have forced the Saints to look toward tall attacking prospects with the February 15 deadline nearing, with Caminiti seen as the club's top target with the clock ticking.
The 19-year-old has now been unveiled as St Kilda's newest recruit, with the signing of the young forward confirmed on Monday.
“I'm so excited and grateful for this opportunity,” Caminiti said.
"It's been a long road to get here, but now that I have this chance, I'm going to do everything in my power to prove this was the right decision.
“I'm looking forward to spending more time with my teammates and coaches and can't wait to really embrace my time here at RSEA Park.”
Caminiti went overlooked at the 2021 National Draft and returned to the Northern Knights for another year, where he booted 16 goals in 11 games in the NAB League.
The 196cm forward had also signed with Carlton's VFL program for the season ahead.
The SSP signing deadline will fall on Wednesday, with several clubs still considering potential list additions with just days left in the window.
Richmond (Quinton Narkle and Kaelan Bradtke), Essendon (Jack Cleaver), Fremantle (Liam Serong and Sam Stubbs), Hawthorn (Callum Brown) and Melbourne (Kye Turner and Trent Burgoyne) all have players training for list spots.
Carlton will have the option to sign another SSP player after long-term injuries to Zac Williams and Sam Philp, with the Blues confirming last Friday that Philp was moved to the club's inactive list as the club signed ruckman Hudson O'Keefe to a rookie deal.
Geelong and the Western Bulldogs also have list vacancies, but look destined to keep them free for the Mid-Season Draft.
