Essendon star Joe Daniher has jetted off to Ireland to consult with a groin expert on the eve of the AFL season to get over his ailing groin issues.
Groin surgery ended Daniher's 2019 season and the gun-forward is still on the mend after not being sighted at Essendon's pre-season training session on Thursday.
The 25-year old will meet with renowned expert Dr Andy Franklyn-Miller in Dublin to sort out his problematic groin issues.
"With the rest of the playing group at Coffs Harbour for our pre-season training camp next week, it presented a good opportunity for Joe to return to Ireland to check in with his specialist," Bombers head of football Dan Richardson told the club website.
"Joe has been progressing well over recent weeks and we hope that this momentum will continue as we enter the next stages of our pre-season campaign."
Daniher has only managed to play 11 games in the last two seasons and his pre-season injury concerns continue to mount.
In other injury news for the Dons, new recruit Mitch Hibberd was sent for scans on his left knee after injuring it at the Bombers' two-hour training session which saw him carried off the field by two trainers.
The former Roo has been cleared of any serious injury but the club will await the full results of the scan.
