Collingwood star duo Brodie Grundy and Jordan De Goey have been forced to miss training and isolate after both came down with what coach Nathan Buckley described as a "sniffle."
Grundy and De Goey played starring roles in the Pies' win over Carlton last Thursday and now await the results of COVID tests before being allowed to return to training.
Buckley said the duo were in no doubt for Thursday night's clash with Brisbane.
"They had a sniffle and they've followed their COVID protocols and stayed at home away from the group, that's pretty much what it was," Buckley said on Wednesday afternoon.
"Much to coaches' chagrin (across the AFL), there's probably been more lost sessions to runny noses in the last couple of months than we would like but they're the extra precautions we're taking to make sure we don't have a repeat of last year."
Collingwood's clash with the Lions has been moved from the GABBA to Marvel Stadium after Brisbane went into a snap lockdown following a COVID outbreak.
The Round 22 clash between the two teams was originally scheduled for Melbourne but will now be played at the GABBA.
Buckley said moving the game was the right thing to do.
"It just seems like common sense to me. We always felt that it wasn't going to be isolated to 2020 so there's going to be different times when this reality may occur," Buckley said.
"The fact it's happened early in the season is no surprise but it's not going to be the first and won't be the last that we're going to have to make adjustments like this."
Brisbane have asked the AFL for permission to fly in extra players from Brisbane without them needing to isolate.
The AFL and Victorian government have allowed this on the condition the players isolate themselves and await negative resulting COVID tests.
