Adelaide Crows midfielder Eloise Jones has failed in her attempt to overturn her suspension after receiving a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle on St Kilda midfielder Tilly Lucas-Rode in the Crows' 39 point win over the Saints on Sunday.
Jones received a one-match sanction after the tackle was deemed as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact.
In today's tribunal, Adelaide pushed for the incident to be downgraded from medium impact to low impact. However, after just 39 minutes, the jury upheld the medium impact, meaning Jones will miss the Crows' Preliminary Final.
According to Sarah Black, the Crows argued the incident was "not the type of tackle where you instinctively know is dangerous." However, the action was still deemed dangerous by the AFL and the jury.
Jones has played nine of the Crows' ten games this season, averaging just under 15 disposals per game and 59 fantasy points in 2022, with her absence set to lessen the Crows' midfield stock.
AFL arguing both arms were pinned and there were elements of a driving tackle, Crows agreeing with that but saying momentum of both players was a factor, and it's not the type of tackle where you instinctively know is dangerous.

Collingwood's Sophie Casey will also miss the Magpies' first week of finals, after accepting a one-match ban for Forceful Front-On Contact against Tayla Stahl of Richmond.
Jones' next appearance may be in the AFLW Grand Final but she will have to wait until after Crows' Preliminary Final. The Matthew Clarke's side will play the winner of North Melbourne and Fremantle, who will play each other in the Qualifying Final.
