A nervous watch will be on recent Gold Coast draftee Leo Lombard's shoulder injury as the youngster immediately came from the field after a collision with Brisbane's Levi Ashcroft.
During Thursday's match simulation against the Lions, Lombard attempted to inflict a physical presence upon Ashcroft but has seemingly come off second best, clutching at his shoulder as he made his way to the bench.
The No.9 Pick from the 2024 intake has been impressive during his first pre-season at the top flight, with teammates and coaches expecting the Suns' academy graduate to be in the frame for Opening Round.
"We don't know the severity of it just yet โฆ hopefully it's not too serious," stand-in coach Shaun Grigg said post-match.
"Fingers crossed it's not too bad and he's back out there soon."
Kayo Sports commentators saw Lombard immediately grimace in pain, with initial thoughts to be a dislocation of his shoulder.

"Leo Lombard lowered the shoulder and he's hurt," the commentators said.
"You just want to get through these games with no injuries and no suspensions but it looks like he's done his shoulder.
"He's thrown his mouthguard 25 metres back onto the ground.
"He's in a fair bit of pain. It was a big hit."
Despite Lombard's putting a dampener on the Suns' evening, the Queensland club still managed to come away with two moral victories.
Gold Coast managed to hold off Brisbane by 10 points in two periods, kicking seven goals to six, mainly through emerging key forward Jed Walter.
The following two periods saw Collingwood downed by the Suns comprehensively, with ruckman Ned Moyle and unicorn Ethan Read hitting the scoreboard.
