Star Giants midfielder Tim Taranto could be a shock inclusion for his team's clash against Port Adelaide on Sunday after recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
Taranto hasn't played since last year's Grand Final but GWS coach Leon Cameron is considering the shock inclusion.
"Taranto will probably put his hand up to return. He's done his 18 weeks of rehab, so having him in that selection consideration is only a positive for us," Cameron said to reporters on Tuesday.
"So whether or not we bring him back with one or two practice matches; we'll make that decision during the week. But he's in really good shape.
"We know he's got that running ability to probably adapt straight away."
Taranto has benefited from COVID-19 shutdown period, with the original possibility of missing 16 rounds being reduced to just six.
The 22-year old is set to not be the only inclusion for the Giants midfield, with skipper Callan Ward set to return from soreness.
Meanwhile, the back injury suffered by defender Sam Taylor has become an infection of his joints, leading to his hospitalisation and him being indefinitely sidelined.
"He started with a back injury from the (Collingwood) game the week before but it's spiralled out of control a little bit into an infection in his joints, which has been really tough for him," Cameron said.
"He's been in hospital probably the last three or four days and we don't really have a timeline for him – he's been knocked around a fair bit.
"His health and wellbeing is at the forefront of our minds (but) hopefully by Friday he's out of hospital and we're on top of that infection, then he can start that rehab process and building up to play again."
