Brisbane star Lachie Neale has shaken off any concern surrounding a shoulder injury sustained in Saturday's preliminary final win over Carlton.

The Lions midfielder was left in the hands of medical staff late into the third term of the 16-point win before opting to remain on the field.

The ailment came after Neale was tackled into the ground by Carlton's Adam Cerra, with the Brownlow Medal winner left holding his right shoulder as a result of the contest.

Neale would undergo further treatment at the final break before running out the match, offering some relief to nervous Lions fans.

Speaking after the win, Neale played some any issue with the injury, telling Channel 7ย he felt fine at full-time.

"It's given me a bit of grief over the year, but I'm fine," Neale said of his shoulder.

"I had surgery on it before. Just a bit of a stinger. It came good."

The positive injury news will be welcomed by Brisbane coach Chris Fagan, who will still have a big selection call to make over the coming days after losing Jack Payne for the Blues clash with an ankle injury.

The Lions defender was replaced by Darcy Gardiner after hurting his ankle in Brisbane's qualifying final win over Port Adelaide.

Payne was raving against the clock to be fit in time for Saturday's game and could now be cleared to face Collingwood in next week's grand final.

"We'll give him time, then we've just got to make a decision," Fagan said of Payne's chances.

"He's still a chance, he's getting better. He's got a bit more improving to do.

"Hyperbaric chambers and these sorts of things, he's doing everything he can to get himself right. Hopefully we've got the problem at the end of the week to try and work out what the team is."

Gardiner put together a strong performance against the Blues, recording 11 disposals and as many spoils to go with his five marks for the evening.

Brisbane will meet Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday, September 30 at 2:30pm to decide the premiership.
