Fremantle Dockers captain Nat Fyfe is likely to face returning Giant Tim Taranto in a pivotal Round 23 clash, provided both complete the week's training.

Fyfe has played only six games for the season after sustaining a back injury at the beginning of the year and was substituted out of his side's Round 19 match against Richmond with a hamstring injury.

With GWS losing Tanner Bruhn (concussion) and Lachlan Keefe (groin) this week, they'll be hoping to see a return from Taranto and small forward James Peatling.

Taranto has proven to be one of the most dangerous midfielders in season 2022, averaging 25.9 disposals and 14.3 kicks ranking elite for both statistics.

Fremantle will be hoping that Rory Lobb can make a quick return in their final match before finals, after leaving the ground with shoulder pain late in the last rounds' volatile Western Derby.

The Dockers are otherwise low on key forward stocks, as Matt Taberner works towards a finals return and a young Josh Treacy recovers from illness.

While GWS will look to finish their disappointing season with a positive, Fremantle has everything to play for on Saturday.

A win against the Giant would see Fremantle securing a home final, or raise them into the top four if other results go their way.

Should he stay healthy, dual Brownlow medallist Fyfe will play a big part in leading his young Dockers side to finals success in the side's breakout season.
