Tom Hawkins
In the Geelong Cats’ 120 point thrashing of Gold Coast, Tom Hawkins stood tall as just about their best player.
Four goals, 24 touches, 11 marks and five tackles for the big man was good enough to have him as the most influential man on the ground as his team rises to second on the ladder.
He could have had far more goals as well had he been more selfish, but instead he had several goal assists to his name.
Lachie Hunter
It seems that whether the Bulldogs win or lose, Lachie Hunter almost has a permanent presence on this list, as the best or second-best player on the ground each week.
He has gone to another level this season and his presence was again felt for the Bulldogs this week in their loss to North Melbourne. His consistently great efforts each week will be key in the Sons of the West making a deep run this year.
Steve Johnson
Steve Johnson enjoyed his best game for his new club this week in their shock 75 point thumping of reigning premiers Hawthorn.
With five goals and 25 touches around the ground, Stevie J showed his importance to the still relatively young Greater Western Sydney Giants. His leadership will be vital in the run to the finals this year.
Jesse Hogan
Who would have thought at this point of the season that Jesse Hogan would probably not even want to consider the Fremantle Dockers as an option any more?
Right now he has already one of the league’s best forwards, with his seven goal bag on the weekend in a losing side from eight marks inside 50 the best total of the season from anyone.
Tim Membrey
Perhaps due to the performance of his teammates, Tim Membrey’s play on the weekend may have been overshadowed.
But over even the impressive Blake Acres and his skipper Nick Riewoldt, Membrey gets the nod as the representative from the Saints this week.
Membrey booted five goals in his best game for the club, taking eight marks and finishing with 16 disposals.
