Trent Cotchin
While he cops a lot of flack for his role as captain of the Tigers, Trent Cotchin was fairly faultless on Saturday night against the Dockers, with his side running out seven goal winners.
Captain Cotch would have walked off the ground with his head held high, finishing with 39 disposals and second among all Tigers in tackles made with seven.
Heath Shaw
When you set an AFL record, it’s more than fair to say you belong in this article. That’s exactly what Heath Shaw did on the weekend with his astonishing 36 kicks of the footy.
Shaw also registered 14 marks and laid six tackles, to prove his days work wasn’t purely done with the boot.
Josh Bruce
Josh Bruce is quickly developing into one of the best targets up forward in the league, and he would receive a lot more attention than he does if it were not for playing for perennial strugglers, St Kilda.
Bruce kicked five goals on the weekend, and also recorded 16 disposals, six tackles and five marks for a nice, well-rounded game.
Josh Kennedy (WCE)
The match between the Power and West Coast Eagles was a far cagier contest than original projected. Full forward Josh Kennedy’s seven goal performance was a large reason West Coast got over the line by eight points.
Kennedy’s seven came from just five marks, and included no behinds, which is fantastic scoring efficiency for a key forward, and is one of the reasons he is one of the league’s best at that end of the field.
Todd Goldstein
With Todd Goldstein and Max Gawn standing tall (quite literally) as two of the best players in the league this year, it is fair to say that the ruckman is back.
Goldstein was arguably the player of the week this round, kicking three goals and finishing with 45 hit-outs, 19 disposals and five marks in the Kangaroos’ 12 goal win over the Blues.
