Footscray 10. 13 (73) def. Essendon 10.9 (69)

A see-sawing game at Whitten Oval saw Footscray get the chocolates behind Tom Liberatore's 21 disposals and eight tackles.

Tom Campbell and Matthew Leuenberger went head to head in a high quality ruck match up, with the Dog coming out on top with 40 hit outs, 17 touches, five tackles and a goal in the tight win.

Essendon's Shaun McKernan bagged four goals in the loss while Jackson Merrett kicked three from his 23 touches.

Williamstown 15.14 (104) def. Sandringham 12.8 (80)

Williamstown cemented their place in the VFL's upper echelon with a strong performance despite Darren Minchington and Jack Lonie kicking three goals apiece.

2015 first-rounder Nathan Freeman collected 30 disposals in the loss.

Northern Blues 14.16 (100) def. Coburg 13.13 (91)

Carlton's Nick Graham starred for North Ballarat on Sunday with 33 disposals, nine tackles and six inside 50s as the Blues climbed up to third on the ladder.

Former Cat Billie Smedts booted two goals while Sam Kerridge reeled in 16 marks while collecting 32 touches in a near-best on ground performance.

Casey Scorpions 15.12 (102) def. Collingwood 13.5 (83)

Chris Mayne's four goal haul wasn't enough to lift the Pies over Casey on Saturday afternoon as former Pie Ben Kennedy's 28 touches, nine inside 50s and six tackles was instrumental in the Scorpions' win.

Jarryd Blair gathered 39 touches (31 handballs!) as he stakes his claim for an AFL return while Jackson Ramsay also put in an impressive performance with 28 touches and seven marks in the loss.

Sam Weiderman and Dean Kent kicked four between them for Casey to set up the Scorpions win.

North Ballarat 11.9 (75) def. by Box Hill 12.16 (88)

In a top vs bottom clash, Box Hill narrowly escaped with the win with poor kicking not helping their cause on Sunday afternoon.

Marc Pittonet amassed 54 hit outs in the Hawks win while Vickery kicked 1.1 from his 11 touches. Kurt Heatherley led all players with 29 touches as the Hawks maintained a six-point lead on top of the VFL ladder.

WAFL

South Fremantle 11.11 (77) def. by Peel Thunder 13.5 (83)

Haiden Schloithe led the way for South Fremantle on Saturday with 31 touches and eight marks however it wasn't enough as their poor kicking led to Peel stealing a six-point win.

Josh Deluca-Cardillo was one of Peel's best on the day with 22 touches and nine tackles as Danyle Pearce picked up 16 disposals in the win.

Swan Districts 12.9 (81) def. by West Perth 12.17 (89)

Swan Districts' six-goal third term wasn't enough to for them to climb into the top four as they went down to West Perth behind Tyler Keitel's four goals.

Todd Banfield kicked four goals for Districts however Shane Nelson's 40 disposals, six tackles and five marks proved too much as West Perth overcame a poor loss last week to sit in third spot on the ladder.

Claremont 14.11 (95) def. East Fremantle 14.8 (92)

Andrew Stephen's seven-goal haul wasn't enough for East Fremantle to register their first win in 2017 as Claremont narrowly held on in the dying stages.

Jayden Schofield racked up 35 touches and nine marks in the Sharks' loss while Jye Bolton was among the Tigers' best with 27 touches and a goal.

Perth 11.9 (75) def. by Subiaco 22.18 (150)

Subiaco cruised to victory on Saturday afternoon behind an eight-goal-to-one second term that blew the game wide open.

The Lions had an even spread of goal-kickers with Clancy Wheeler leading the way with five while Leigh Kitchin tallied 33 touches, nine inside 50s and nine marks in the win.

Former Saint Clinton Jones continued his stellar run of form with his third 40-disposal game of the season as Callum Papertalk kicked five goals in the loss.

Central Districts 10.6 (66) def. by Sturt 12.11 (83)

Sturt kept pace with top four on Saturday as they led after each change to register their fifth win of the season.

Kory Beard led the way for Sturt with four goals while Chris Jansen led all-comers with 36 disposals for Districts.

Eagles 6.8 (44) def. South Adelaide 6.7 (43)

Ethan Haylock kicked a goal with less than 90 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a narrow one-point win over South Adelaide.

Michael Wundke kicked three for the home side as Joel Cross was arguably best on ground with 32 touches and seven marks for South Adelaide.

Norwood 15.7 (97) def. by Adelaide 15.9 (99)

Myles Poholke was the hero for Adelaide as the stole a teetering game at the death against Norwood.

Mitch McGovern and Troy Menzel booted four goals apiece for the Crows while Scott Thompson has 25 touches and 14 tackles in the nail-biter.

Bradley McKenzie was Norwood's best with 28 disposals, eight tackles, five inside 50s and a goal.

Port Adelaide 28. 14 (182) def. West Adelaide 7.12 (54)

Aaron Young had a day out for the Magpies with five goals from his 38 disposals to go along with seven marks and six tackles in Port's monster win.

Dougal Howard filled his boots with eight goals in the rout as Jarrod Lienert collected 37 touches in defence.

Kaine Stevens was West Adelaide's best with 26 touches and seven tackles.

North Adelaide 9.9 (63) def. by Glenelg 13.14 (92)

Glenelg Tigers secured a comfortable win on Monday afternoon with a strong fourth quarter proving to much for North Adelaide to overcome.

Terry Milera booted three goals from 19 touches, seven marks and seven tackles an all-round display while Ben Sawford found the ball at will with 31 disposals.

The win puts the Tigers back inside the top five.

Sydney 28.17 (185) def. UWS 2.2 (14)

In a score line that you'd expect more from a division four country league competition, the Swans decimated their younger opponents, albeit with some slight assistance courtesy of UWS having 19 men on the field at one point.

They had their score wiped (despite just being on four points at the time) as Kurt Tippett put his hand up for an immediate AFL recall with three goals, 21 disposals and nine marks.

Gary Rohan booted two goals from his 18 touches while former Blue Jeremy Laider had 31 disposals on the day.

For the Giants reserves, Tendai Mzungu returned from his second week back from an injury lay off as he collected 19 disposals and laid eight tackles while Jeremy Finlayson had 34 disposals.

Brisbane 12.13 (83) defeated Gold Coast 11.14 (80)

Despite a late Suns charge, the Lions held on in the final quarter that's to a late goal from Josh Walker.

Johnathan Freeman booted four goals for the Lions as Tom Bell collected 29 disposals.

Claye Beams was impressive with 28 touches, eight marks and five tackles.

Will Brodie was among the Suns' best with 30 disposals while Mitch Hallahan had 27 disposals and kicked a goal. Keegan Brooksby kicked 3.3 in the loss.
